Summary

Under the supervision of the Lead Ophthalmic Technician, we are seeking enthusiastic and motivated individuals to serve as Ophthalmic Technicians on our growing team. The technician team performs duties of a clinical assistant specializing in anatomy, function, and diseases of the eye. Technicians facilitate patient care by performing the preliminary "work up" of the patient. This includes gathering all past medical records, performing preliminary eye function and diagnostic testing needed for the physician to diagnose and treat such eye conditions. Technicians are also responsible for tending to patient voicemails and emails Under the direction of the physician, technicians may administer eye medications and maintain optical and surgical instruments as well as assist in surgical procedures such as Lasik Eye Surgery. No prior experience is required as we offer a full in-house training program. 

Ophthalmic Technicians are highly skilled. This role can be a lifetime career or a stepping-stone to other opportunities in healthcare. Nationally recognized certifications can be achieved after about 1-year in this role. Such certifications are funded by the practice to enable our team to achieve success. 

Additional Information 

Boston Vision currently has 6 locations in the Metro-Boston area. We ask our staff to be open to assisting in other locations as the business demands. Additional mileage is reimbursed as a travel expense. Strong candidates should have the ability to provide situational leadership, exceptional diplomatic communication skills, and experience in handling difficult customer situations. Must be detail oriented and have the ability to multitask. A proven track record in advanced high level customer service and follow through is a plus. Must be a positive and professional team player.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time, exempt position. Days and hours of work vary according to the business demands. 

Work Environment

This role operates in a professional medical office environment routinely using standard office and clinical equipment such as computers, telephones and testing equipment.
